WEP/GPO Repeal FAQ Updates: Retroactive Payments to Begin
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced retroactive payments and a new way to apply for retirement, spouse’s, or surviving spouse’s benefits if you did not previously apply because of the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) or the Government Pension Offset (GPO) thanks to the NARFE-supported Social Security Fairness Act.

Social Security Fairness Act now PL 118-273: WEP-GPO Repealed
NARFE Chapter 1734 congratulates all our members who worked hard to enact the Social Security Fairness Act (Public Law 118-273) to repeal the odious Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). Many thanks to all who supported the NARFE effort to right this egregious wrong.
