About Us

NARFE NY Federation is here for you. Whether a current federal employee or a retiree, NARFE NY Federation is here for you to protect your pay and earned benefits.
The NY Federation began in 1956 and provides resources and expertise to help federal employees and annuitants living throughout New York State.
The NY Federation consists of NARFE members who belong to one of 14 chapters located throughout the state, and also represents members who live in New York State, but choose to not belong to a chapter.
The NY Federation is part of NARFE Region 1 which consists of the NARFE Federations of Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Region I Vice President is Jeff Anliker. NARFE has ten regions covering state federations and their chapters in the U.S., U.S. territories, and other countries.

What do Local Chapters offer? It is at the Chapter level that you can become involved in the affairs of your local federal community. Chapters provide critical grassroots support for NARFE’s national legislative agenda. Local chapters hold meetings, present guest speakers talking on a variety of issues, and provide an opportunity to meet and engage with other federal employees and retirees in your community. Membership in a Chapter is optional. To locate a Chapter in New York State, click here.
What does membership in NARFE NY mean to you? Your NARFE membership amplifies your influence on Capitol Hill as NARFE fights to protect your pay, benefits, job security, and rights as a federal employee. We work to protect the earned benefits of federal annuitants and their survivors. By joining NARFE, you have access to professional learning and development opportunities as well as expert guidance on benefits, financial planning, and policy changes affecting your career and retirement benefits. Through membership in NARFE you connect with a network of federal peers and potential mentors through local chapter activities, FEDHub online community, grassroots activism, and special NARFE events.
Membership in NARFE means that you can run for and hold office at the National and State levels. Membership means that you also have an opportunity to serve as a Congressional District Advocate (CDA) for your own Congressional District – a state federation level position that is designed specifically for politically active and motivated members who want to interact with members of Congress as a representative of NARFE. CDA’s are federation positions, appointed by the Federation President of the state of your residence. If you are interested in being a CDA, contact us.
NARFE is your federal benefits resource. Whether providing webinars covering everything from Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) and Medicare to Thrift Savings Plan, to survivor benefits, we have the answers for you. NARFE provides updates on the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA), and has Federal Benefits Experts ready to answer your questions. For more information, contact the Federal Benefits Institute.
