Service Officer

NARFE has Service Officers who can advise and assist members and their families with benefits, personnel actions, and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) processing. Examples include:

  • filing death and other claims
  • survivor benefits
  • changing beneficiaries
  • electing life insurance options
  • Thrift Savings Plan
  • comparing health plans during Federal Health Benefit open season
  • cutting through red tape and processing delays
  • how to navigate the OPM website

Here’s a recent story of how one Service Officer made a difference for a federal retiree whose husband died:

Service Officers know OPM‘s complex requirements in detail. We encourage members to reach out to a Service Officer whenever help is needed. Contact California Federation Service Officer Yvonne Williams, for help.
