CA Federation Reimburses FEDcon24!
3/27/24 Update: The Federation Board revised its reimbursement policy for registration fees and increased its reimbursement for trip expenses.
The California Federation encourages its members to attend the upcoming NARFE national conference, FEDcon24, August 18-20, 2024, at St. Louis, Missouri at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at The Arch. To show its commitment to its members, the Federation is offering significant financial support to attendees. The Federation will reimburse members for their registration (early bird registration due by May 17, 2024) and $600 for other expenses, such as travel, lodging, and meals while participating in FEDcon24. The registration fee will cover 2 lunches, breaktime snacks and beverages, and appetizers during the August 18 evening social reception.
The Conference will focus on: LEARN how to make the most of your benefits, ADVOCATE to protect those earned benefits, and LEAD the organization that defends those benefits into the future.
In addition to a business meeting, regional caucuses, a symposia provided by NARFE’s partners, and a closing reception, learning sessions will include:
- Pre-retirement preparations
- Federal benefits including Medicare and FEHB
- Advocacy for issues affecting federal employees and retirees
- Estate planning for Feds
- NARFE leadership and officer roles and succession planning
- Resources available to chapter officers (including the AMS database)
- Best practices for Chapter/Federation Communications
- Recruitment and retention of members
The Federation believes this event will provide members with new learning, heighten members’ commitment to advocacy, and provide members with new leadership skills. The CA Federation Board wants to encourage attendance from all its national-only and chapter members by reimbursing their registration fee and additional trip expenses up to $600.
Once members have paid for their registration, they can seek reimbursement by providing proof of payment prior to attendance. After attending the conference, reimbursement for additional expenses (lodging, meals, travel, etc.) may be requested by submitting a copy of their travel expenses.
