This is another story from the Seattle Times on the effects of the recent firing of probationary staff right here in Washington. This isn’t over–this last week, all managers across the Federal government have been asked to prepare RIF plans for large reductions in workforce to be implemented by September.

I heard from a NARFE member who was recently with USFS that the National Park Service has received approval to hire temporary employees this coming season, but USFS has not and they serve us supporting outdoor recreation as well. These cuts will have huge negative impact on the economy, especially in rural areas throughout Washington that depend on recreation and tourism. Today is a great day to contact your representatives.
