Honoring Partnership and Advocacy: Virginia Federation of NARFE Recognizes Legislative Champions

The Virginia Federation of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) recently had the honor of presenting Senator Lamont Bagby and Delegate Luke Torian with our sincere appreciation for their continued service, leadership, and commitment to the people of the Commonwealth—and especially to the federal employees and retirees we proudly represent.

NARFE members Ora McCoy, Patricia Gwalthmey, Wynn Hasty, Deborah Brown, and Deborah Fisk represented the Virginia Federation in these presentations, speaking on behalf of thousands of active and retired federal employees across Virginia. Their presence reflected not only gratitude, but also the strong, respectful partnerships NARFE values with elected officials who listen, engage, and lead with integrity.

Lamont Bagby has long demonstrated a willingness to engage with constituents on issues that matter—economic security, fair taxation, and the well-being of public servants who have dedicated their careers to serving others. His openness to dialogue and thoughtful consideration of NARFE priorities has made a meaningful difference for our members.

Likewise, Luke Torian has been a steadfast advocate for policies that strengthen communities and protect retirees. His leadership and accessibility exemplify the kind of public service that builds trust and produces results.

For the Virginia Federation of NARFE, advocacy is about more than legislation—it is about relationships. It is about recognizing those who take the time to understand the unique challenges facing federal employees and retirees, and who work collaboratively to ensure their voices are heard at the General Assembly.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Senator Bagby and Delegate Torian for their service and for their continued partnership with NARFE. We also commend our dedicated members—Ora McCoy, Patricia Gwalthmey, Wynn Hasty, Deborah Brown, and Deborah Fisk—whose commitment to civic engagement and respectful advocacy reflects the very best of our Association.

Together, through collaboration and mutual respect, we continue to advance NARFE’s mission: protecting the earned benefits of federal employees and retirees while strengthening the communities we all call home.
