2026 Federal Benefits Open Season
The U.S Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has released 2026 Open Season information. Open Season is November 10 – December 8, 2025. It ends at 11:59 pm Eastern Time for FEDVIP and FSAFEDS. For FEHB and PSPB and 11:59 pm for the location of your electronic enrollment system.
You can use Healthcare Compare 2026 Plans without signing into OPM websites.
On OPM, federal employees, annuitants (retirees), survivor annuitants and eligible family members can see details about the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) Program, read about Plan Types, find 2026 plan brochures for regional and nationwide plans in their state and see the 2026 Premiums rate charts.
US Postal Service employees, annuitants (retirees), and eligible family members can get General Information about the Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) Program, see the 2026 Premiums for regional and nationwide plans, and read individual plan brochures.
OPM has a main page for Tribal employees with links and Frequently Asked Questions. There’s also a Quick Guide to FEHB for Tribal Employees.
Another federal benefit is Temporary Continuation of Coverage (TCC) for covered children reaching age 26 and thus losing family member eligibility for healthcare.
OPM also offers the Federal Employee Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). Employees MUST be eligible for FEHB to enroll in FEDVIP; they do NOT have to enroll in FEHB. Annuitants do NOT have to be eligible for FEHB to enroll in FEDVIP. Other resources include: Plan Premiums, Vision Insurance Overview, Dental Overview, and Enrollment. The BENEFEDS site is used to enroll in FEDVIP.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are available to FEHB-eligible employees (PSHB does not participate in FSAFEDS.):
- In the Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS), employees can save funds, before taxes, for expenses not covered by health insurance.
- Employees can use a Dependent Care FSA to save for day care for children under 13 or non-medical care for a dependent adult incapable of self-care.
