Tri-City Fremont 50th Anniversary Celebration

NARFE 1494 Tri-City Fremont Chapter had a marvelous 50th Anniversary Celebration at Jack’s Restaurant on May 7, 2026. There was a great turnout of members, and guests. Good food was enjoyed by all, after an icebreaker game. Presentations were by Chapter President Thien Kuu who talked about the Chapter’s history (including having 500 members at one time), and Steve Walter from the Federation Board spoke about the history of NARFE (originally called Association for Retired Federal Employees – ARF!).
Among those in attendance was Clarence (and his wife Betty) Tom. Clarence retired from Alameda Naval Air Station about 1985, joined NARFE in 1992, and was 2nd VP in 1994, 1st VP in 1995, and Prez in 1996. He and Betty were bigtime line dancers and he was still a Line Dance instructor in his late 70s and maybe later. They live in Union City. He’ll be 96 in June. Also in attendance was a reporter from the TriCity Voice newspaper, and a representative from Visiting Angels.
