Summer Food Drive

Food banks continue to struggle to help with the explosion in the number of families needing food.  Once again, NARFE members will help meet this need with our summer Food Drive June 1 through August 21, 2026.  The goal is $5 per voting member. 

The New Braunfels NARFE Chapter 0672 will be collecting money donations at all meetings in June, July, and August. Funding cuts by the current administration have created a large funding gap for area food banks which have already struggled to meet client needs.  Pending legislation will cut Medicaid benefits, increasing the number of people in need

We focus on money donations for two reasons: 

• The Food Bank has incredible buying power compared to ours.
• Not all members attend our summer meetings.
• Grocery donations require space to store and are heavy.  Our goal is the equivalent of several tons of food.

$1 donated = $13 buying power by the Food Bank

= 10 pounds of food; = 7 meals for the hungry.

If writing a check, make payable to “New Braunfels Food Bank,” put “NARFE 0672 New Braunfels” on the “For” line, and mail or give to our Chapter Treasurer David Manchester at any summer meeting.  Your complete mailing address is needed on the check to receive a letter from the Food Bank documenting your donation for tax purposes.
