SUBJECT:  infed 2021 CONFERENCE – Special Reminder for INFED members to request A Ballot to vote on the Federation Proposed By-laws.

As I write this correspondence, I hope that each of you are experiencing good health.  As we listen to the Local and World news about this Pandemic, it can be somewhat disparaging, especially when we have all looked forward to some opportunities to return to socializing with our families, friends, and of course, for participation in our NARFE meetings.  

Each of you should be in possession of the postcard notice mailed by our INFED Secretary, Linda Keithley, to all INFED members during June 2021 with the announcement of our upcoming 2021 NARFE Indiana Federation Conference scheduled for October 28, 2021.  The postcard outlined the procedures to: a) run for a Federation Office and, b) to submit a Bylaw Amendment and, c) to receive a ballot to vote on Indiana Federation issues in the upcoming 2021 election.  The Postcard lists my name, Ella Johnson, as the person to contact to request a ballot.

As Chairperson of the INFED Ballot and Teller Committee, I am sending this correspondence with an emphasis to be placed on Item C – The REQUEST FOR A BALLOT TO VOTE.  In regard to the By-Laws, our current by-laws that were approved on 5/23/2018 have been in review by the INFED Bylaws and Resolutions Committee to design and submit a revised copy in conformance with the template developed by NARFE Headquarters.  The revisions made by the Bylaws and Resolutions Committee were minor and are now ready for vote by the Members to Adopt or Reject the document. (A copy of the current and proposed bylaws can be obtained from our State INFED website).

To accomplish the Member voting, I especially encourage each of you who have not already done so to contact me to request a ballot for your participation in the voting on the proposed By-laws.  My Ballot/Teller committee Team has plans for mailing of the ballots to begin on or before 8/27/21 to each member who requests the ballot.    I look forward to hearing from each of you.  PLEASE VOTE!!!

NARFE INDIANA FEDERATION 2021 CONFERENCE 2021 CONFERENCE INFORMATION

The 2021 NARFE Indiana Federation Conference will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.  The conference will be held at the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 39 Hall, 2211 E 54th St, Indianapolis, IN 46220 (approximately one block west of Keystone Ave.).  See map below.  Click here for a printable map to the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 39 Hall. All chapter members are invited to attend.

Alzheimer's Research Funding Support by NARFE Members.

 This is a site providing a way for the Indiana Federation Members to see an updated report of contributions made and a way for you to make an Alzheimer contribution from here.

Through a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association in Chicago, IL, 100 percent of NARFE-member donations go to Alzheimer's research.

The NARFE-Alzheimer’s National Committee, made up of one member from each of the NARFE’s ten regions, meet each year. With the help of experts from the Alzheimer’s Association, the Committee selects the research projects to fund.

 

NARFE has raised funds since 1985 and funded 83 projects with the first grant awarded in 1988. By virtue of its contributions to Alzheimer’s research, NARFE is a member of the Alzheimer’s Association’s Zenith Society, which represents the Alzheimer’s Association’s “highest and most involved” level of donors.

 

As of July 2021, cumulative NARFE donations to Alzheimer’s Research is $13,948,628.05. Thanks to all of you for your fundraising efforts. We are working our way towards our goal of $14 million. Our national goal of $14 million has been extended to December 31, 2022 due to the COVID-19 virus and that many of the chapters are not currently meeting. This was decided by the NARFE Alzheimer’s National Committee Annual Meeting in September 2020.

 

Indiana Federation donations from our Chapters to Alzheimer’s Research for the month of June was $136.01. Total donations for the period January 1, 2021 to July 31, 2021 totaled $1,216.01  Total donations raised for Fiscal Year 2022 - July1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 - is $0.00.  Total donations for Region IV for Fiscal Year is $919.00.

 

The donations have significantly decreased as chapters are not able to meet due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please continue to donate by sending your contribution to your Chapter Alzheimer’s Coordinator or Treasurer. Donations can also be made on-line at https://act.alz.org/site/Donation2?df_id=9443&9443.donation=form1&_ga=2.83762454.1038752795.1599256840-297183105.1544640010. The form in the NARFE magazine can also be used. Your Federation and Chapter Numbers need to be added to ensure that your chapter receives credit. 

 

The scheduled WALKS to End Alzheimer’s for 2020 have been completed. The goal for the 2020 WALKS was $100,000. The amount raised was $65,748.56 compared to $74,881 for 2019. This is a GREAT accomplishment in light of COVID-19!  Please sign up for the 2021 WALKS now!

 

The Longest Day total raised in 2020 was $3,780.00! You can register for the 2021 Longest Day at https://www.alz.org/thelongestday.
