Chapter members and others with Facebook accounts are encouraged to visit our Chapter page. From your Facebook account go to: NARFE Maryland Chapter 422.  You can view information about upcoming meetings and other items of interest concerning NARFE and Chapter 422.  If there are any items you would like to see on our page, please let me know.  Also, we routinely issue flyers containing information about coming monthly meetings (date, time, speaker, etc.) for display atvarious community locations. You are welcome to print these and share them to recruit members. We could also produce a general information flyer, using the one from Headquarters as a model, with a summary of NARFE benefits and Chapter 422 contact information and meeting locations.  By highlighting the benefits of membership as well as Chapter 422 information, this type of flyer may generate more attention than the current one. Please let Sara Walser know if you would like this more personalized Chapter 422 to hand out to prospective members.

The NARFE mission has remained the same since 1921.

We realize that information is the most powerful key in unlocking the potential of our future.  Federal employees, retirees and survivor annuitants who are well informed and actively involved in NARFE are the best defense against the potential erosion or stagnation of the future we've earned.

Welcome to NARFE Chapter 422

Welcome to our active and retired chapter members and prospective members!

In addition to our newsletters and meetings, this Chapter 422 Web site is another means of keeping our members informed about what is going on in our chapter, state federation and at the national level. For example, we can keep you informed in a timely manner by posting information and actions on legislative issues and initiatives at the state and national levels that could affect you and your earned benefits.

Even though attendance at meetings is voluntary, the chapter board members learned through surveys that the members who attend meetings are interested in good program topics/speakers and in the social interaction of the group. Our chapter members who attend meetings regularly share their experiences on the topic of the day and we learn from these members as well as the speakers.

Another important benefit to being a chapter member is the opportunity to serve others by fostering the mission of NARFE and volunteering to actively participate as committee chairs and in the governance of the chapter. Speaking of service, one of the most vital roles in the chapter is that of the service officer, who can answer your questions about your health benefits, annuity, survivor benefits, Medicare and Social Security.

For those visiting this Web site who are interested in finding out more about NARFE and/or want to join NARFE and our local Laurel chapter, please contact our Membership Officer, David Walser, e-mail:, ph 301-776-3490.  I look forward to seeing you at a chapter meeting soon.

If you have any additions or changes you would like to recommend for the Web site, please let me know by e-mail  at:
