NARFE is the only organization dedicated solely to the general welfare of all federal workers and retirees.  Since NARFE’s founding in 1921, the association’s mission has been to defend and advance the earned pay and benefits of America’s civil servants.

While we were employed, we could turn to our agency’s Human Resource Department for answers to our questions.  Now that we are retired, we can turn to NARFE for answers to our questions.  NARFE has become, as the header indicates, “Federal Benefits Experts.”  Only NARFE members have access to NARFE FEDERAL BENEFITS INSTITUTE.  Members can call them for personalized, one-on-one help with a variety of federal benefits matters:  retirement, life insurance, compensation, and other benefits.

The NARFE FEDERAL BENEFITS INSTITUTE also offers an on-line learning center with both live and recorded presentations designed to help members understand and manage their federal benefits.

We have a team of registered lobbyists to advance NARFE’s legislative program.  We are recruiting grassroots activists in every state to meet with elected officials to explain who we are and what we do.  We have a member-supported Political Action Committee (PAC).  Using NARFE’s “Legislative Action Center,” you yourself can contact your elected officials and participate in protecting your benefits.

Our members look forward to receiving the NARFE MAGAZINE, a comprehensive source for all of your pre- and post- retirement choices.

Locally, NARFE has chapters that offer opportunities to meet other federal employees, to learn more about your benefits, and to help.  The website you are visiting tells you more about our Sarasota Chapter 242.

NARFE is non-partisan.  We need friends “on both sides of the aisle” to accomplish our mission.  We support legislation that is beneficial to current and potential federal annuitants and oppose legislation contrary to their interests. We promote the general welfare of our members by advising them with respect to their rights under retirement laws and regulations.  We strive to cooperate with other organizations and associations to further these objectives.
