NARFE - Chapter 1497
Mt. Baldy Chapter 1497 District III Upland, CA

NARFE Needs You & You Need NARFE

National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association

Welcome to the Mount Baldy Chapter's Website. We hope this website will provide you with information that will be helpful to you, as a member of Chapter 1497 or as a guest. It was started July 11, 2011. As of September  the 8th it has been 10 years and 2 months that we have had a website.  If you become a member, then you are going to be a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.   NARFE is the only organization solely devoted to protecting the interests of civilians who have retired or will retire from Federal Service.  If you are a member or would like to become a member, I would like to have you to join us at our new meeting site - Molly's Souper in Upland, CA.  A lot of knowledge can be gained by being together and sharing  NARFE stories!  NARFE's formation is the classic American story of citizens banding together to accomplish what they could not by working alone. Our members may do their part with this goal of passing the word to prospective members.   Recruit a new member today so that we can protect your benefits tomorrow. We are asking this question "Do you, still, believe we need NARFE?"   Now, my question is "Do you want to join us?"   Our chapter is a part of the California State Federation of Chapters/CSFC.  This federation seeks to help us unite as a group to make our voices heard in Washington.  We would like to see you in attendance when chapter meetings are held!  Many of you who view this site will be members with e-mail capability who would, normally, get a newsletter monthly and will get more communication from us.  I am, still, excited about having this form of electronic media to connect and communicate with our members and 'soon to be members'!  You will be able to seize information on events, check the schedule of our speakers, connect with our officers, find helpful links for support, retrieve important forms and documents, keep current on our newsletters, read articles of interest and occasionally view photos of our members and guests.   Keep returning and, hopefully, you will see something new each time! Your presence on this website is appreciated!  Signed, Past President Bernice Minnis

"Attacks on Federal employees today will become attacks on retirees tomorrow!"

I believe our younger recruits are not interested in attending our chapter meetings.  Most are checking social medias to find us and trying to connect with us.  This is our way of opening the door so that these future members will feel comfortable in being a part of our chapter.

This website serves as an avenue to improve communication and distribute information to all our members and potential members. NARFE is dedicated to protecting the earned benefits of retired and active federal employees, spouses, family members, and survivors and this is where the recruit needs to be.

Our presence on the internet, is designed to engage our federal community of employees and retirees and keep them informed on issues and events impacting their financial well-being and earned benefits.  You can contact us at:

Checklist to Use When A Love-One Passes

“Dealing with the death of a loved one is stressful enough. But not knowing what to do with someone’s finances after the person has passed away poses an additional burden on a grieving family."

To make the process a bit easier, here’s a checklist of the top eight money matters you must deal with— and mistakes to avoid— after someone you care about dies. This checklist isn’t all-inclusive. But what follows is critical information that can save you precious time, money and energy, as well as help you avoid squabbles over assets or financial exploitation.
