Feds Feed Families Food Drive

Greater San Antonio (District 12) chapters joined other federal agencies in the San Antonio area for the annual summer "Feds Feed Families" food drive from June 1-August 21.

We focus on collecting money because of the great purchasing power of the San Antonio Food Bank.  Each $1 donated is equal to $13 purchasing power by the San Antonio Food Bank.

You can make donations at any summer chapter meeting, or mail a check to your chapter Treasurer.  Please make check payable to "San Antonio Food Bank" and write on the memo line "Feds Feed Families, NARFE nnnn" (where "nnnn" is your chapter number.

There is also an online donation page at Feds Feed Families 2019

If you do not know your treasuer, you may mail your check to George Rotblut, 8645 Fredricksburg Rd Apt 108; San Antonio, TX 78240-1203.  He needs to receive it by Friday, August 16, as all donations need to be received by the Food Bank by the end date of the drive.

Thanks to all who help.  Donations will be used to help those in need in the 13 counties served by the San Antonio Food Bank.  This food drive is part of the United we Serve campaign for Federal Agencies and organizations throughout the country.

New Braunfels 0672 (District 12) recieved the National Team Traveling Trophy for NARFE. In 2018, at FEDcon18, NARFE's national conference, Team Hope team captain Kathy Siggins gave us a challenge:  "We're taking the trophy back in 2018!  It was Texas vs. Maryland.  Thank you for everyone who helped us raise the most of any 2018 team to keep the trophy for another year.

This was a "win-win" for all.  Thank you Texas, and Thank you, Maryland.  Together we are working to make a difference.

Traveling Trophy

New Braunfels NARFE Chapter 0672 is now the proud holder of the NARFE Walk to End Alzheimer’s National Team Champion traveling trophy. The chapter earned this award by being the top NARFE fund-raising team for 2017. It was also the top team for their New Braunfels walk.

Team captain Dorothy Creswell is shown holding the trophy, but the success was the result of all nineteen team members working toward a common goal. Three were Grand Champions raising $1,000 or more, and one was a Champion raising over $500, but every member helped reach the goal, even with smaller amounts. Team members included: Margaret Brazle; Ann Carpenter; Susan Castillo (Champion); Dorothy Creswell (Team Captain and Grand Champion); John Creswell (Grand Champion); Jayne Dimick; Kandy Galvan; Lynn Geyer (Grand Champion); Jane Hensley; Davis Hensley; Bridget McCue; Betty Niven; James Pope; Alice Pullin; Daisy Richardson; Randall Thoreson; Sandy Vogel; Teri Vukson and Betty Worl.

Your chapter could win the trophy this year and move us closer to the goal of finding a cure for Alzheimer’s.

So far, there are three teams in Texas, but there’s room for many more. Current teams are Sparkling City by the Sea, Corpus Christi Chapter 0091 on September 9; New Braunfels Chapter 0672 on October 13: and Longview Chapter 0801 on October 6.

Visit to join a local team or start a team for a walk near you. There is a walk in or near most Texas NARFE chapters.

It’s important to remember the goal is to raise money to help locally those with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers, to promote advocacy for Congressional funding, and to invest in research to find better treatment and a cure for the disease.

You don’t have to attend a walk to be a significant participant.

Sparkling City by the SeaChapter 91 (District 14)

Menking, Team Captain and First VP of Chapter 91, Heriberto Garza, President, Dora Suarez, Secretary, Delfina McHugh, Glenda Turner, current active member Criselda (Crissy) and her husband Andy Freasier, and Dora Benavides.

Last year NARFE Chapter 91 raised $1,320 for Alzheimer’s Association “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”. This year we are well on our way to reaching our goal of $1,000 or more.   We encourage all NARFE Texas Federation Chapters to join us in this very important mission. NARFE headquarters is a National Sponsor of Walk to End Alzheimer’s events.

You can help us out by logging on to our new team webpage and donating to our team through December 2018.

Walk to End Alzheimer's 2017 is complete. We had 12 walkers on the National Active and Retired Federal Employees team this year and we were one of the top 5 teams in raising donations. Thanks to all of you that donated and we are going to do better next year.
