LEGcon25, held from June 9 – 11, 2025 is a WRAP

🎯 Conference Format & Attendance

  • The event began with a “Know Before You Go” briefing on June 3, preparing attendees for the virtual platform, meeting logistics, and Advocacy Day priorities

  • LEGcon25 attracted 228 registrants from 46 states plus D.C., culminating in 216 meetings with members of Congress and their staff over Advocacy Day

Training & Keynotes

  • Opening address by NARFE National President William “Bill” Shackelford.

  • Advocacy update by policy VP John Hatton, followed by insightful remarks from Members of Congress:

    • Reps. Kweisi Mfume, Glenn Ivey, Don Beyer, Mike Turner, Brendan Boyle, Jamie Raskin, Melanie Stansbury

    • Sens. Chris Van Hollen and Tim Kaine

Breakout Sessions

  • Grassroots strategy, maximizing congressional meetings, and NARFE‑PAC fundamentals.

  • A session on “Advocacy in the Age of Trump” led by Bradford Fitch.

  • A Hill staff panel featuring experienced staffers:

    • Khamare Garner (Sen. Warren), Terrance Taylor (Rep. Hoyer), Meera Dheer (Rep. Goldman)


🤝 Advocacy Day & Outcomes

  • On June 11, more than 200 participants held virtual meetings—driving NARFE’s legislative priorities directly to Capitol Hill staff

  • Attendees have access to session recordings, presentation slides, and the virtual meeting platform through the LEGcon25 Zoom Events lobby (available until July 10).

  • The Advocacy Day portal remains open, and registrants are reminded to send thank-you notes by July 11
