Actions Related to Federal Labor Unions
There have been a number of articles addressing the executive actions related to Federal Labor Unions. The following are the most recent articles.
Fedweek article published August 5, 2025 by Fedweek Staff titled: Court Lifts Last Remaining Ban on Executive Order against Unions. “A second federal appeals court has lifted the last remaining injunction that trial judges had issued against the executive order to revoke union representation rights for the majority of federal employees, allowing agencies to move ahead with RIFs and reorganizations without having to comply with any commitments they had made in contracts to soften the impact on employees.”
Federal News Network article published August 8 by Drew Friedman titled: EPA terminates federal union contracts, effective immediately. “The Environmental Protection Agency said Friday it will no longer recognize its federal unions and that all collective bargaining agreements are terminated, effective immediately. EPA announcement makes it the second known agency to officially cancel its union contracts, coming just after the Department of Veterans Affairs.”
Fedweek article published August 12, 2025 by Fedweek Staff titled: Several Agencies Move to Deny Union Contracts; Others Likely to Follow. “Federal agencies have begun to disavow union contracts under a March executive order from President Trump to revoke past and future union representation for the majority of federal employees, following the lifting of two court injunctions that had blocked that order.”

Collective bargaining is canceled, effective immediately, at both the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
