OPM Announces Change in Form 1099-R Delivery

There is some important news for you about your tax form 1099-R. Per IRS Bulletin 2025-30 and the 1099-R consent statement, OPM is changing how you’ll receive your 1099-R.

Starting this January, you won’t be getting your 1099-R by mail anymore. Instead, you will receive an email notification with options to securely access your 1099-R online.

You can review or change your 1099-R delivery preference in your Profile section on Retirement Services Online.

While you’re logged in, you can also manage:

  • Annuity statements;
  • Tax withholdings;
  • Direct deposit;
  • Contact information;
  • FEGLI life insurance verifications;
  • And more – all 24/7, no phone calls or forms
