{"id":618,"date":"2026-05-10T21:00:25","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T21:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.narfe.org\/nh\/?p=618"},"modified":"2026-05-10T21:00:25","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T21:00:25","slug":"narfe-funded-researcher-leads-promising-alzheimers-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.narfe.org\/nh\/2026\/05\/10\/narfe-funded-researcher-leads-promising-alzheimers-study\/","title":{"rendered":"NARFE funded researcher leads promising Alzheimer\u2019s study"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif\">Hyun-Sik Yang, Ph.D., whose research was supported by NARFE through sponsorship of an Alzheimer\u2019s Association Clinical Fellowship in 2017, is first author on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41467-026-71269-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>new study<\/strong><\/a> that has recently received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/health-news\/articles\/2026-04-15\/blood-test-predicts-alzheimers-years-before-symptoms-brain-changes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>national media attention<\/strong><\/a>. The research was published this month in Nature Communications and highlights a major step forward in how Alzheimer\u2019s disease may be detected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif\">The study shows that a simple blood test may be able to predict a person\u2019s risk for Alzheimer\u2019s years before memory problems begin and even before changes are visible on brain scans.
