Who can join NARFE?
- Current/former federal civilian employees and retirees who are eligible to receive an annuity under any federal civilian retirement system (CSRS, FERS, Postal Service, Foreign Service, Non-Appropriated Fund …)
- Spouses, former spouses or survivors entitled to a federal annuity
Does military service qualify to join NARFE?
- No, not by itself. But retired/former military may if they also have qualifying civilian federal service and contribute to a federal civilian retirement plan
Are you required to join a Chapter?
- No it’s voluntary to join a Chapter and if not you are designated a National-only member
- Conversely you may join (be a member of) any chapter. Example: you move but wish to remain with the Chapter located where you previously worked (or retired from) and supporting those members who were your co-workers
How much does it cost to become a NARFE member?
- NARFE membership is currently $48 annually; discounts exist for multi-year renewals and retirees can avail themselves of annuity withholding
- When you join NARFE, your first year of Chapter membership is free if you specify a chapter
How do I locate a Minnesota NARFE Chapter near me?
Joining a chapter is a great way to meet and socialize with Federal Employees and Retirees.

How can I change my contact information with NARFE?
You can update your contact information (address, email, phone) through any of these channels:

- Online: Log in to the NARFE Member Portal and select “My Account,” then “My Profile,” and click “Update Contact Information”
- Email: Send requests to memberrecords@narfe.org
- Phone: 1-800-456-8410 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday-Friday)
