{"id":2545,"date":"2026-01-08T08:43:57","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T13:43:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.narfe.org\/mi\/?p=2545"},"modified":"2026-01-08T14:24:15","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T19:24:15","slug":"narfe-referendum-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.narfe.org\/mi\/2026\/01\/08\/narfe-referendum-election\/","title":{"rendered":"NARFE Referendum Election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NEB passed <strong>Motion #17-11-25<\/strong> in closed sessions on December 18, 2025 to fund $40,000 for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.narfe.org\/2026-referendum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>2026 \u2013 Special Referendum<\/strong><\/a> to extend the terms of office for current and future national officers. The current term limits are two years for national president, secretary-treasurer and ten regional vice presidents, with term limits of two terms for the president and three terms for the other officers. The proposed change is to elect national and regional officers for three years\/term, with two year term limits. A proviso is added that current officers about to be \u201ctermed-out\u201d can extend their term for an extra three years. Members are urged to vote when the ballots are emailed on 1\/26\/26.
