The Way We Were<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\u00a0Lock and Dams on the Border of Kentucky were manned by Federal Employees.<\/h4>\n

50 Wicket dams were created to help industry move commodities in the east. The vessels needed depth to hall their cargo. The Federal Government provided the depth by creating 50 Wicket dams along the Ohio River<\/p>\n

The Wickets were raised by hand and with the help steam engine crane. Hopper (setting prop with the 20\u2032 steel rod ) and his crew
\n( left to right) Tom Diaz (kneeling), Eddie Nunn, Ron Hall behind Eddie and Lawson Hammond (far right).The only thing holding that diving board in place is the weight of the people standing on the board. To hook the prop James Hopper had to go out on the end of the board.
