Suspension of health benefits


 

QUESTIONUnder what circumstances can I suspend my health benefits under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP)? Can I suspend my benefits after retirement if I am covered under my spouse's non-federal health plan?

ANSWERYou can suspend your FEHBP enrollment only as a retiree, and only if you have coverage under TRICARE, TRICARE For Life, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, CHAMPVA, or you are a Peace Corps volunteer.
