Illinois Government<\/h4>\n

The Executive Branch<\/strong><\/a> includes the six elected officers and their offices, as well as other departments.
\nThe Judicial Branch<\/strong> is composed of the Circuit Courts<\/a><\/strong>, the Appellate Courts<\/a><\/strong>, the Illinois Supreme Court<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and related agencies<\/strong><\/a>.
\nThe Legislative Branch<\/a><\/strong> of the state is the Illinois General Assembly<\/strong><\/a>. It has two chambers: House of Representatives<\/strong><\/a> and Senate<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tribal Government<\/h4>\n

There is one federally recognized tribal nation<\/a><\/strong> in Illinois \u2013 the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation<\/a><\/strong>. They purchased 128 acres to create the Shab-eh-nay Reservation <\/strong><\/a>within the boundaries of their ancestral home in DeKalb County. On the reservation, the tribal government has jurisdiction over law enforcement for Indians, business regulation, \u201cenvironmental and natural resources management, hunting and fishing, education and social welfare\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
