Statement from NARFE National President Ken Thomas on the Passing and Legacy of President George Herbert Walker Bush

Alexandria, Va. (December 7, 2018) – “As a grateful nation extended its final good-byes to President George H.W. Bush this week, we are reminded not only of the political impact he made but also the significance of the federal workforce on our daily lives. Throughout a career that spanned decades, he exemplified the dignity and values of what it means to be a public servant. His personal experience as a Fed gave him a distinct understanding of the challenges faced by millions of federal employees across the country and world. Whether as a member of Congress, Ambassador to the United Nations, Vice President or ultimately President, he will be missed in the hearts and remembered in the minds of federal employees and retirees as one whose passion to serve the American people was heart-felt and reverence to defend the Constitution of the United States, lasting.”
