NARFE Headquarters Closes for Safety Measures in Response to COVID-19

March 16, 2020

Like you and your family members, NARFE headquarters has been diligently monitoring developments of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and adhering to guidance provided by local, state and federal health experts and government authorities.

Out of an abundance of caution, and in the spirit of being good corporate citizens heeding the requests of elected leaders and respectful to the dynamic populations within our community, the NARFE headquarters building located at 606 N. Washington Street in Alexandria, VA, is temporarily closed effective Tuesday, March 17 through Tuesday, March 31. Since the situation is very fluid, any closure beyond that date will be evaluated and announced as we get closer, if needed.

The decision to close the office allows us to undertake extensive safety and preventive measures to mitigate any possibility of contamination of the virus or community spread.

The NARFE website remains operational, and you can continue to access the latest News from NARFE and educational materials from the advocacy department and Federal Benefits Institute. Additionally, we’ve developed a specific page within the NARFE website, narfe.org/status, to keep members and the public abreast of our operational status. And, of course, we will continue to communicate and share updates via social media platforms.

Since the beginning of the civil service, history has shown time and again the dedication and selfless acts of public servants on the front lines of disasters and in the midst of public health and economic crises. It is that strength that we look forward to resume serving and again promoting in the coming weeks.
