Legislative Issues
Federal Issues
NARFE encourages all members to take advantage of their rights as US citizens to voice their opinions with their elected Federal officials. On this website, there is a wealth of information on the NARFE National tab above relating to current National issues and concerns with links to the Legislative Hotline. The Hotline is a perfect tool for members to contact their officials directly with pre-prepared letters on specific issues. Each of these letters can be used verbatim or modified to make them more personal. The link also has a tool which enables you to locate your Representative and Senators. If you have questions and/or would like more information, please click here to contact our National Legislation Chair.
State Legislation 2024
Each year the Virginia Federation of NARFE identifies several issues impacting Federal employees, retirees, and their families that are legislatively within the Commonwealth of Virginia’s jurisdiction. NARFE members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these Virginia issues and take every opportunity to bring them to the attention of their Virginia Delegate and/or Senator. Click More Links below to learn about Virginia’s 2024 Legislation Plan and who to contact within your own House of Delegate and/or Senatorial District. This year’s State Legislation Plan, which is detailed in The 2024 Virginia State Legislation Plan, includes four issues:
- Exempting a Segment of CSRS Pensions Equivalent to Social Security Retirement from State Income Tax
- Minimum Nursing Home Standards
- Age Deduction
- Family Caregiver Tax Credit
