The Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset\u00a0 are <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">REPEALED<\/span><\/strong>! <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.narfe.org\/blog\/2024\/12\/19\/update-on-the-social-security-fairness-act-h-r-82\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NEWS from NARFE<\/a><\/strong>: \u201c<span data-contrast=\"auto\">Just past midnight in the early hours of Saturday, December 21, <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">the U.S. Senate passed H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act<\/span><\/strong>, to repeal the windfall elimination provision (WEP), and the government pension offset (GPO), voting 76-20 on final passage. Prior to passage, the Senate voted against several amendments that would have prevented the bill from becoming law. The House previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.narfe.org\/blog\/2024\/11\/12\/narfe-celebrates-historic-house-approval-of-h-r-82-eyes-senate-action\/\"><strong>passed the bill by a 327-75 vote<\/strong><\/a> on November 12.
