Chapter 1795 Events for 2016 - 2017

Each year NARFE Chapter 1795 designs and presents a special series of program offerings to address the interests and needs of you, our members. Please review the 2016-2017 scheduled programs and plan to join us for these topics that can have an impact on our lives as well as the lives of our loved ones. The programs are open to all who want to attend, and are free. Additionally, light refreshments are served. It is an opportunity to meet others and keep current on issues that affect Federal employees and retirees.  Medicare Fraud and Abuse: Prevention, Detection and Reporting

Our government loses approximately $60 Billion annually to Medicare fraud, errors and abuse.  Moreover, approximately 250,000 beneficiaries are listed as having their medical identity compromised through stolen or misused Medicare numbers.   Grant-funded projects under the Department of Health and Human Services, the Senior Medicare Patrols’ mission is "to empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families and care givers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education".

This presentation will focus on what you, your family, friends and care givers can do to: 1) help minimize our nation’s debt due to Medicare fraud, errors and abuse; 2) protect against identity theft and unscrupulous telemarketers; and 3) safe guard personal health and health records from errors and abuse.

Ann Sulkovsky is a Volunteer with the Senior Medicare Patrol.
