Bylaws

Article I. Meetings of the Chapter

Section 1.  Regular meetings of the Chapter shall be held on the same day of the week at the same time each month from September through June, unless some meeting is omitted by previous Chapter vote, or by action of the Chapter Executive Committee, with due and reasonable notice to members. The regular meeting in January shall be the annual meeting.

Section 2. Special meetings shall be called by the Chapter President when necessary, or upon written request of one-tenth of the chapter members, stating the nature of the business for which the meeting is called. Notice of all special meetings shall be given in writing and mailed or emailed to every member at their last known address or delivered personally, at least ten days before each meeting.

Section 3. A quorum shall consist of 20 members of the Chapter’s total membership, but less than a quorum may adjourn to meet on a future day, of which due notices shall be given.

Article II. Order of Business

The following is the suggested order of business at all regular meetings of the chapter.

Article III. Officers and Committees

Section 1. The officers of the chapter shall be a President, a First Vice-President, a Second Vice-President, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. The Secretary and Treasurer can be a combined position. These shall be elected at the November meeting and installed at the annual meeting for one-year terms.

Section 2. There shall be an Executive Committee, of which the elected Chapter Officers shall be members. The Executive Committee shall exercise such functions as the Chapter may prescribe.

Section 3. There shall be a Membership Committee appointed by the President. It shall be the duty of members of this Committee to urge all annuitants and active employees in the area to join the association and chapter. All chapter members are ex-officio members of this committee.

Section 4. The President shall appoint a Legislative committee to keep abreast of all legislative matters concerning active employees and annuitants, and to make recommendations to the National Association; also a Sunshine Committee to visit the sick and look after the welfare of individual members.

Section 5.  The President may appoint an Auditing Committee, a Nominating Committee, and such other committees as may be deemed desirable.

Section 6. The Chapter may by resolution require the Treasurer to give bond for the faithful performance of duties.

Article IV. Chapter Dues

The Chapter shall collect for its own treasury only such dues as may be necessary to meet expenses in carrying on its business and functions.

Article V. Amendments.

Amendments to these bylaws may be enacted by concurrence of two-thirds of the members present at any regular meeting, provided due notice has been given in accordance with

Article VII of the Chapter Constitution.

These bylaws became effective on 6/11/2012. Bylaws were approved by chapter members at the June 2012 regular meeting.
