Alexandria, VA – The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) issued the following statement on the results of yesterday’s presidential and congressional elections:

“NARFE congratulates President-elect Trump and the newly elected members of the 115th Congress,” said NARFE National President Richard G. Thissen. “NARFE looks forward to continuing to serve as a trusted, unbiased source of information for President-elect Trump, his administration and the new Congress as one of the largest organizations representing the interests of our nation’s five million federal employees and annuitants and their spouses and survivors.”

“The transition to a new administration provides new opportunities for NARFE and its members to carry out its mission to advocate in support of our country’s hardworking federal employees and retirees, while opposing any cuts to their earned pay and benefits.”

“NARFE also applauds the federal employees who worked tirelessly during this long election season – from the Secret Service agents who provided protection to the presidential candidates, to the Transportation Security Administration personnel and Federal Aviation Administration air traffic controllers who helped provide the campaigns with safe transit across the nation, to the employees of the Federal Elections Commission and the Department of Justice who worked to ensure that the elections were conducted fairly and that Americans could freely exercise their civic right to vote.”

Federal-Postal Coalition Chairman and NARFE Legislative Counsel Alan Lopatin added: “The new President and his colleagues in the new Congress will find the members of the federal and postal community eager to share their experience and expertise. We take pride in our work and know that the smooth delivery of government services, benefits and protections is in all of our interests as American taxpayers.”
