Alexandria, VA
– The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) is honored to salute the men and women who serve our country during Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), May 4-10. Organized by the Public Employees Roundtable (PER), of which NARFE is a member, the week honors military, federal, state, county and local government employees.

“This week provides us with an opportunity to pause and say, ‘Thank you,’ to the millions of individuals who make our government the best in the world,” said NARFE President Joseph A. Beaudoin.

“As president of the largest federal employee and retiree organization, I am continually humbled to learn of the numerous ways NARFE members and their colleagues keep our government functioning efficiently and effectively without the expectation of fanfare. Please join me in expressing gratitude for the important work public servants do for America.”

For nearly 30 years, the first week in May has been dedicated to recognizing the work of our military and civil servants. The theme for this year’s commemoration is “Proud to Serve.” Throughout the country, mayors, city and town councils, agency leaders, communities and public service organizations participate by issuing proclamations, hosting award ceremonies and special tribute events, and delivering messages about the value of public service.

NARFE and the Public Employees Roundtable encourage government employees and retirees alike to take the opportunity to communicate the benefits and value of the work they do. To help spread the word, like NARFE on Facebook and join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtags #PSRW and #Proud2ServeUSA. More information on PSRW can be found at http://publicservicerecognitionweek.org/.
