NARFE-FEEA DISASTER FUND
NARFE Members Helping Each Other
In 1986, the Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) was established to provide emergency grants and loans to federal employees affected by a natural disaster.

NARFE’s involvement with FEEA began following the April 19, 1995, bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. NARFE chapters, federations and individual members donated $100,000 to the FEEA’s Oklahoma City Fund. NARFE's Oklahoma City donation helped fund full college scholarships for all 200 children who lost a federal employee parent in the bombing of the Murrah Building.

In 1996, NARFE entered into a partnership with FEEA to provide emergency disaster assistance to NARFE members who are victims of a declared natural disaster through the NARFE-FEEA Disaster Fund. The Fund is supported by tax-deductible donations from NARFE members and friends of NARFE, and is administered by FEEA. NARFE members have donated some $458,000 in aid to NARFE members who were affected by Hurricane Katrina, Superstorm Sandy and other natural disasters. Cash Grants
NARFE disaster funds in the form of cash grants ($500 maximum per grant per household) are available to all NARFE members in good standing who have been injured, incurred property damage or have other needs during and after a declared natural disaster. Eligible damaged property must be a primary place of residence.

To Apply
Following a declared natural disaster, NARFE members can find the most up-to-date grant application at www.feea.org/disaster. FEEA now uses one unified application for all disaster grants, so please be sure to check the NARFE box on the application. Questions? Send an email to emergency@feea.org. If you do not have Internet access, please call FEEA at 202-554-0007 for further information.

Eligible Disasters:
Presidentially declared disasters. Please check the Federal Emergency Management Agency website for the list of declared disasters: https://www.fema.gov/disasters.

Documentation will be required to show loss or destruction of property or how the applicant was injured as a result of a natural disaster. Grant checks are payable directly to the applicant or to a specific creditor.

Disaster Fund Applications
Disaster Fund applications and supporting documentation can be sent by email to emergency@feea.org or faxed to 202-559-1298. Applications will not be accepted by mail.

NARFE contributions are kept separate from FEEA’s own emergency assistance fund and are disbursed to NARFE members whose applications are approved.
