Premera Security Breach

March 18, 2015

Premera Blue Cross, a licensed Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance company in Washington State and Alaska, announced March 17 that it was a victim of a cyberattack that exposed the personal and health data of more 11 million customers to unauthorized users. As with the Anthem Blue Cross intrusion announced in February, there is no evidence that any of the accessed records/data have shown up on the Internet black markets used by identity thefts. The FBI is investigating the Premera cyberattack. Premera is offering two years of free credit monitoring and identity protection services to anyone affected by the incident. Premera will contact affected individuals only by letter, not by email or telephone.  You can read more at Premera’s website,
