Census Bureau Hiring for 2010 Census

September 23, 2009

Recruiting is under way for the 2010 U.S. Census. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that it will hire up to 1.4 million individuals to help in this once-a-decade effort. To apply, call the toll-free jobs line at 866-861-2010 where you will be routed to your local Census Bureau office. You also can visit www.2010censusjobs.gov. You can prepare by downloading the Census Practice Test from the Web site.

If you are a retired federal employee, a waiver has been granted allowing those individuals who are receiving federal annuities to work in certain jobs for the Census Bureau without an offset to their salaries. This is not a blanket waiver for all positions, so when you contact the Census Bureau, find out if the position you are applying for is covered under the waiver.
